El Salvador's capital, San Salvador, lies in a valley at the foot of the large San Salvador volcano. In the centre of the city, and overlooking the Plaza Barrios is one of the most famous landmark's, the domed Catedral Metropolitana. This is the burial site of Archbishop Oscar Romero.
