Transport

By air
The main airport, and the busiest in Montreal is Dorval Airport, located approximately 22kms west of the city. It is modern and well equipped for tourists. There are reliable and frequent bus and shuttle connections into Montreal. Asian and Australian visitors have to connect via Vancouver or other west coast airports to reach Montréal.

By train
Distances are large in Canada, even among the cluster of mid eastern cities. Trains are the most comfortable means of land travel but are more expensive than the buses. VIA Rail Canada services many cities and towns near to Montreal, as well as the popular Niagara Falls. There are also US Amtrak trains departing for the US eastern seaboard and Great Lake area cities.

By bus
Many tourists on a low budget use the bus network to get around Montreal and to its other great cities as it's the least expensive option. Buses leave from the Station Centrale de l'Autobus in the Quartier Latin, just east of the university.

By car
A good network of highways make journeys to Quebec city and Ottawa easy. If you enjoy cruising along the roads taking in the stunning scenery that Canada has to offer then why not opt for car rental.
