The high speed TGV train serves the Cannes Rail Station from several major cities in France, including nearby Nice, Avignon, Marseille and Paris. Londoners can take the Eurostar to Lille and connect to Cannes. The trip from Lille to Cannes takes about seven hours. Cannes is also conveniently connected to such major European cities as Milan, Rome, and Brussels.

Cannes has earned a reputation for glitz and glamour, with a slew of luxury hotels, private beaches, and famous visitors. Private beaches can get quite pricey, but the public beaches can be unbearably crowded. Travellers should visit the les de Lrins, whose calm beaches are a short ferry ride away. Snorkeling is also available, and there is a lovely monastery on the smaller island.

In Cannes, visitors should be sure to wander through Le Suquet, the old quarter. Restaurants and small shops fill the winding streets, and there is a fantastic panoramic view from the castle ruins.
