Koper Guide

Sitting on the Adriatic coast, Koper is the home of Slovenia's biggest commercial port. Italy lies just a short distance to the north of the town making this one of the main road routes across the border and also makes this excellent location from which to explore the country's small stretch of coastline with cheap car hire in Koper.

You might have the benefits of a Mediterranean climate and being next to the Adriatic Sea when in Koper but there are no beaches here. There are a few within driving distance of car hire in Koper and if you really feel the need for a swim in the sea you can take a dip just to the north of the marina.

The main area of interest to visitors is the old city centre that is dominated by Tito Square (Titov trg). It is undergoing the slow process of restoration and the 15th century Praetorian Palace is one of the few buildings to be completed. The Cathedral of the Assumption is worth viewing and you can take a pleasant stroll along cobbles streets to the marina from here.

Within easy driving distance of car rental in Kopar are several towns and cities that have been restored including the medieval town of Piran. From Koper is also ideally situated for a tour of the many local castles with the with Socerb being the first of many within easy reach.

If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.
